What you will do as an Application Specialist
- Liaison between the Application Development and Technical Support Team for support of mission-critical applications
- Create new tools for the Application Development or Technical Support teams to improve efficiency and allow for faster development
- Monitor and maintain the Musco database and application environment. In some cases, including installation
- Support the hardware and software needed to make this environment work
- Investigate and test new technologies with the established parameters of the Systems Technology Manager
- Assist in the development and execution of project schedules
- Ensure installed software systems are properly maintained
- Provide timely end-user support as needed
- Participate in on-call support during non-business hours on a rotational basis. Remediation may require work during non-business hours
What you need to be successful
- Minimum Two-year degree in a Computer Science-related field and 5 years of experience. A four-year degree is a plus
- Knowledge of Relational Databases like Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Progress Open Edge
- Knowledge of Programming Languages like C#.NET, VB.NET, Progress 4GL, Bash, Perl, Python, PowerShell, and the ability to learn additional languages
- Experience with Storage Area Networks is a plus
- Familiar with IDEs like Visual Studio or Eclipse
- Experience with REST Web services and Application Server technologies (i.e. Apache Tomcat, Apache Web server, IIS, and Kestrel)
- Knowledge of Linux, Windows, and vSphere Operating Systems
- Understand Authentication systems (i.e. OAuth, SAML, and Secure Ticketing Services)
- Skilled in Directory Services (i.e. Active Directory, Azure AD, and AWS IAM)
- Expertise with basic networking and network troubleshooting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team environment, while working with some amount of self-directedness
- Work confidentially with data
- Answer occasional calls during non-work hours as part of troubleshooting.
- In the rare event of an emergency, may be required to come to the office unexpectedly or log-in remotely
