The Musco Iowa Sports Turf Division is seeking a Sports Turf Manager - External Accounts, working out of our Des Moines, IA office.  This person will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of executing maintenance contracts focused on turf care and maintenance, maintaining customer satisfaction, and business development to expand market reach and services.

Responsibilities

This role requires a high level of flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.  Competitive candidates will have a background in landscaping or turf maintenance, including fertilizing, weed control, aerating, and top-dressing among other activities.  Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience building a book of business for lawncare, landscaping, or related business. Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and manage the preventative maintenance for all equipment.
  • Coordinate services (spraying, seeding, lawncare, etc.) needed to fulfill contractual obligations.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships through continual communication and by providing industry and product knowledge/expertise.
  • Identify and understand customer needs, gather feedback to share with management
  • Develop and implement strategies to solicit new client service accounts (calls, RFP responses, leveraging networks, etc.)
  • Develop, promote, and implement service programs for new clients within the scope of IST expertise.
  • Provide market and competitive feedback and recommend changes in products, services and policy to maintain and increase marketshare.
  • Stay current with changing technology that can impact turf maintenance.
  • Assist other IST maintenance sites with maintenance operations as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in business, turf management, or similar field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years previous related managerial experience required.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety regulations required.
  • Prior experience in facilities management or lawncare business development highly desirable.
  • Prior experience in a customer facing role preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
