This is a full time 40 hour a week position

The Position:

The Neurology Anesthesia Technician or Assistant works closely with the neurology department, anesthesiologists, radiology staff and other departments throughout the hospital. The primary responsibility of the Neurology Anesthesia Technician or Assistant is to provide advanced anesthetic monitoring care to the patients of Angell Animal Medical Center primarily in the MRI unit and surgical suites when necessary under the direction of a neurologist.

Some of the duties include: 

  • Provide and ensure quality patient care for all neurology anesthetic patients which need diagnostic imaging and/or surgery.
  • Utilize technical and clinical expertise in order to effectively assess, induce, monitor and stabilize all surgical, emergent and urgent case types.
  • Demonstrate and model strong technical skills including but not limited to mechanical ventilation, patients prone to increased intracranial pressure, geriatric anesthetic case experience, cardiac anesthetic case management, advanced venipuncture, IV catheter placement, central line placement, advanced fluid and component therapy, CPR procedures, chest tube and tracheostomy maintenance, breath hold techniques, etc.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to internal & external constituents/client/contacts and treats all in a courteous, respectful manner at all times.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

We are looking for applicants with at least 3 years of veterinary technician/assistant experience. In order to be hired as a technician, one must be a Certified Veterinary Technician. Seeking Veterinary Technicians Specialty (VTS) Certification in their area of expertise if available. Work experience in a growing, multi-veterinary hospital, emergency/referral practice or veterinary teaching hospital preferred.

Preferred

Technicians must have a CVT and have graduated from an accredited veterinary technology program in order to be hired as a technician.
