This is a full time 40 hour a week position. The are 4 ten hour days; 7:30am-6:00pm, with rotating weekends and holidays
MSPCA-Angell Animal Medical center is looking for a Nuclear Medicine Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician to join our growing Nuclear Medicine team. This position will work closely with the Diagnostic Imaging team to provide Angell clientele with the highest quality of patient care in our Nuclear Medicine Ward.
THE POSITION:
The technician in this role will adhere to the strict radiation safety practice, performing Nuclear Medicine scans and treatments as needed. Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and inventory in the ward.
When not working in Nuclear Medicine the Nuclear Medicine Technician works in the Diagnostic Imaging department performing imaging studies and demonstrating quality control, proper patient handling and the ability to document patient information.
Duties include:
- Providing daily care to patients in the Nuclear Medicine Ward: including feeding, cage maintenance, administering medications
- Assisting clinician in administration of Tc-99m and thyroid scans
- Ability to utilize the gamma camera for flood imaging and all imaging scans
- Safely administering radioiodine to patients
- Understanding all state regulations and requirements and assists RSO in completing paperwork and documentation
APPLICANT QUALIFiCATIONS:
We are looking for a detailed oriented person with excellent customer service skills. If you are able to communicate effectively and compassionately with clients. One of their most important job functions is to maintain a curated and dynamic patient booking schedule to allow maximum patient flow through the ward in a controlled environment.
To succeed in this role you should have;
- A deep sense of compassion and a strong desire to help both animals and people,
- A collaborative personality but with the proven ability to work independently,
- Great attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
