Position is full time at Angell Boston

Angell Animal Medical Center has served the greater Boston and scenic New England area as a primary care facility, a 24-hour emergency hospital, and as a tertiary referral center for over a century.  We are looking for an ER doctor to join our ECC service.  The ECC service is comprised of 5 criticalists, 8 residents, and 7 ER doctors.

WHO WE ARE:  Angell offers specialty services in anesthesiology, avian and exotic medicine, behavior, cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery, dentistry, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, emergency and critical care medicine, internal medicine, interventional radiology, neurology and neurosurgery, medical and radiation oncology, ophthalmology, anatomic and clinical pathology, and surgery. Angell is a rich educational environment offering weekly on-site continuing education seminars and regular multi-disciplinary specialty rounds attended by M.D. specialists from local prestigious hospitals. 

Angell offered the very first veterinary internship in the world beginning in 1941, running continuously to present day. Angell was instrumental in establishing specialty veterinary medicine. Our hospital has a long history of providing training not only to veterinary interns and residents but also to veterinary students and the veterinary community at large.

OUR ECC SERVICE:  Our current emergency and critical care service is comprised of five criticalists, 7 ER doctors, and 8 ECC residents.  Our technicians and Assistants are highly-skilled, well paid, and properly experienced allowing you to practice the type of medicine that you are trained for. In addition our service prides itself on a close collaborative relationship with other departments (internal medicine, oncology, neurology, surgery, ophthalmology, and cardiology, etc.)

OUR LOCATION:  Enjoy the diverse culture, arts & entertainment, and sports events in Boston, or spend weekends ocean-side or hiking on scenic mountain trails a short drive of the city.

POSITION DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   The qualified individual will be responsible for receiving patients through our ER and creating a treatment protocols for their hospitalization.  ER doctors will transfer all patients the next morning to other services.   Some mentorship and training of interns and other house officers is expected.  No overnight coverage is required for our ER doctor staff.

REQUIREMENTS:  Candidates must demonstrate aptitude for multi-tasking and working successfully in a team environment. The successful candidate should be able to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, to the veterinary and technical staff as well as clients and referring veterinarians. Qualified applicants must have a DVM and have completed a rotating, one-year internship.
