Our attendant training program is designed to set each individual up for success and help them reach their career goals here at Angell. Each attendant will advance through the three levels as they learn and obtain the necessary foundational skills required to excel in their role. Attendants will receive a more in-depth knowledge of veterinary medicine and have the opportunity for continued education. Responsibilities of an Attendant

Initial responsibilities include hospital orderly tasks, such as laundry and setting up patient beds, cleaning wards and kennels, stocking (food, medications, and supplies), accurately documenting medical records in the digital treatment sheets.

Additional training will allow attendants to provide more direct patient care, such as practicing safe, fear free restraint for medical procedures, walking our patients, bathing and cleaning patients, feeding, icing, nebulizing, etc.

Each day is entirely different, so you will need good time management skills, flexibility and adaptability to excel in this role. You must be able to work professionally and effectively in emergency situations that may sometimes be emotionally upsetting. It is essential for attendants to recognize and report when an animal is unstable or in distress and quickly respond and/or alert the appropriate staff of the situation.

Opportunity for Advancement

Angell has a variety of learning and development opportunities for candidates who wish to advance their career. Continuing education programs, as well as in house training for various hospital roles, are available to attendants and those who wish to explore other career opportunities in the veterinary medicine field. We also have a wonderful partnership with Penn Foster and employees in good standing after 6 months of employment are eligible to apply for the certified vet tech program, which Angell would pay the tuition for. This is an incredible chance to advance your career in this field and be able to further your education!
