M&S Engineering, LLC seeks a qualified Substation Electrical Engineer at our Spring Branch, Texas location to perform engineering and design duties which require application of engineering principles and knowledge of substation design.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Detail engineering and design of substation projects from conceptual design through construction from 4kV to 345kV.
- Create/modify design documents and drawings for a project, including one-lines, three-lines, control schematics, wiring diagrams, relay panel arrangements, specifications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, and generating bills of material
- Effectively communicate and coordinate project activities with manager, clients, and others as needed
- Prepare scopes, schedules, and budgets, and ensure that schedules and budgets are met
- Take on a project engineer and/or project manager role as required
Requirements
- 4-year degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering (emphasis in Power is preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years applicable post-graduation substation design experience
- Current PE License in the State of Texas or ability to obtain the license within 12 months of hire
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to work closely with other engineering and design team members to coordinate overall design package and requirements
- Ability to travel
- Take personal responsibility and ownership for the quality and accuracy of work product
- Proficiency using AutoCAD or Microstation and Microsoft Office Suite
- Self-starter
- Able to simultaneously manage multiple projects
- Work independently or in a team environment
- Must be able to routinely lift up to 30lbs
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required
