M&S Engineering, LLC seeks a qualified Substation Construction Inspector to work in our Substation Division at our Spring Branch, Texas location to be responsible for inspection and management of substation construction projects throughout Texas.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site construction inspections for concurrent substation construction projects.
  • Provide weekly construction reports and schedule status to project team. Report material received and construction units completed for invoicing.
  • Support specification and documentation of client design standards and material standards based on construction observations.
  • Review substation designs prior to construction to become familiarized with the project design, specification, material, and outage requirements.
  • Conduct pre-construction meetings and safety tailboards as required. Ensure safe working practices and environment.
  • Ensure environmental and permitting requirements are implemented per the specification.
  • Serve as Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan Inspector for specific projects.
  • Verify accuracy of drawing markups and as-builts.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned

Qualifications

  • 2-year degree in construction management or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of job-related experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communications skills
  • Take personal responsibility and ownership for the quality and accuracy of work product
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Work independently or in a team environment
  • Must be able to routinely lift up to 30lbs
  • Ability to travel
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required
  • Knowledge of construction standards, industry best practices, project management methods and concepts, budgeting and cost management, engineering principles, and electrical theory
  • Knowledge of assembly and installation of electrical and mechanical equipment (including high voltage equipment)
  • Knowledge of materials and tools used in construction, construction safety principles and practices, and National Electric Safety Code
  • Knowledge of procurement, design, and processes
  • Skilled in working across organizations to coordinate construction activities and communications
  • Skilled in time management, prioritizing, and managing changing priorities
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
