SUMMARY
As a Senior Re-inspector, you will perform re-inspections and closed file audits within the Auto Advantage Program. Determines what variances, exceptions, or modifications may be necessary. Provides coaching and/or training to ensure estimates and appraisals are within manufactures repairs recommendations and approve when appropriate.
Appraises, but is not limited to automobiles, heavy equipment, recreational vehicles and physical damage claims. Negotiates agreed price with repair facilities and secures valuations. Provide repair and causation guidance on major physical damage concerns and causation issue to the casualty claims adjusters.
Promotes Direct Auto Repair Program (DARP) with agents and body shops. Duties performed involve a higher degree of complexity or involved appraisals and re-inspections with greater exposure. Handles service-related issues with shops and customers that are more complex or problematic and which may involve face-to-face interactions.
Establishes appropriate repair and appraisal guidelines and appraisal workflow. Communicates and works with direct auto repair program (DARP) shops, outside staff, and independent appraisal firms to oversee and to ensure that guidelines are being followed. Determines what variances or exceptions or modifications to the appraisal guidelines may be necessary or approved.

What You’ll Do:
- Works with management to establish appropriate repair, appraisal, and re-inspection guidelines and workflow.
- Oversight of our network DRP.
- Provides expert advice to management on repair guidelines and workflow as part of a long-term planning process.
- Manages and maintains a productive and effective workload schedule to accomplish required tasks and goals.
- Coaches and trains auto repair shops, independent appraisal firms, and outside staff appraisers concerning appropriate repair and appraisal guidelines.
- Performs reviews of high volume, high-value, highly complex, auto body shop estimates in the claims-related processing software portal. Negotiates repair costs directly with shops in and out of the Company’s network.
- Determines which appraisals, re-inspections, and closed file audits need to be performed, and either performs, or directs others to perform, said activities.
- Determines which estimates need to be appraised or re-inspected, and performs, or directs others to perform, said activities.
- Interviews, telephones, or corresponds with insureds, claimants, witnesses, police, and others.
- Identifies different insurance contracts and endorsements and refers to specific policy contracts for interpretation of coverage in claims' situations.
- Investigates claims, which requires documentation of files, writes damage estimates, and obtains signed and/or recorded statements from insureds, claimants, witnesses and other individuals, as needed.
- Evaluates property damage estimates or inspects property damage to determine causality and extent of the Company’s liability.
- Performs appraisals, re-inspections, and audits on physical damages.
- Negotiates and resolves repair and/or causation disputes with body shops and or customers.
- Communicates appropriate repair guidelines to direct auto repair shops, independent appraisal firms, outside staff appraisers, and customers.
- Communicates and coordinates with staff regarding assignments to outside vendors for appraisal and disposition of salvage.
- Communicates verbally and through written reports, memoranda with insureds, claimants, attorneys, state and local police, fire departments, adjusters, other companies, contractors, insurance agents, and other individuals as needed.
- Prepares cases and represents the Company's position at mediation, arbitration, and appraisal hearings.
- Investigates and prepares files for Subrogation.
- Assigns and directs appraisers, body shops, and re-inspectors, as needed, in connection with the physical damage investigations.
- Works directly with adjusters to provide guidance on physical damage related issues and concerns.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with independent adjusting and appraisal firms, agents, attorneys, salvage buyers, and other similar firms as necessary, which may include travel, visitation and attendance at various conventions and meetings. (May include overnight stays.)
What You Bring:
- 8-10 years of related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
