Mesa seeks a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer who will work with other members of the engineering team to deliver projects of varying complexity and size for our fossil and hydro power generation clients. Daily tasks will include design support for additions and modifications to power generation related structures including:
- Mechanical and electrical equipment supports, racks, foundations, and anchorages
- Pre-engineered metal building foundations
- Steel-framed, concrete, or masonry buildings
- Personnel access platforms, walkways, stairways, etc.
- Retaining walls Lifting and rigging analysis and component design
Education/Experience/Licensure:
- BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university.
- 8+ years of experience
- California PE or ability to obtain within 6 months. Structural PE preferred.
Responsibilities:
Preparation and completion of discipline engineering designs and supporting documents such as design criteria, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
Assist in the definition of project objectives, preparation of design estimates, and definition of project requirements and routine design approaches.
Responsible for scoping, estimating, organizing, executing, and coordinating engineering projects, which may have unique or complex technical or project execution requirements.
Performs technical and coordination checking review of deliverables and other project documents and ensures deliverables comply with company procedures and applicable design requirements.
Must be capable of preparing/checking calculations using engineering formulas and skills or using specific structural analysis software such as STAAD, Risa, Enercalc, etc.
Should have experience with calculations using MathCAD and Excel.
Must have knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE-7, AISC 360, AISC 341, and ACI 318.
Must be willing to travel on a regular basis (primarily day trips, with some overnights), mostly within California.
Assists in the resolution of construction issues, supporting design staff to resolve problems and concerns in a timely fashion.
Minimum qualifications for this position include:
- CA PE or ability to obtain with 6 months.
- Experience with industry standard structural analysis software (i.e. STAAD, Risa, Enercalc, etc.)
- Experience with calculations using MathCAD and Excel
- Experience with ACI 318 and Appendix D anchorage designs
- Experience with 2D AutoCAD drafting and 3D/BIM modeling Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (IBC, CBC, ASCE7, AISC 360, AISC 341, ACI 318, etc.)
- Seismic design experience with concrete and steel.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Well organized and self-motivated to complete tasks within agreed to schedules
- Adherence to Mesa quality program Creative thinking and ability to judge between alternate solutions to provide the optimal solution
- Safety consciousness and strict adherence to company and client safety standards
- Ability to travel on a regular basis (primarily day trips, with some overnights) US citizen
- Ideal candidates will possess the following skills and experience: MSCE with structural emphasis from an ABET accredited school
- Familiarity power generating utility processes is preferred
- Proficiency with industry standard structural analysis software, including Finite Element Analysis programs
- Must be able to pass security background check.

Annual Salary Range:
$90,524-$119,697.21
The expected compensation is a range determined by factors including but not limited to education, experience, and qualifications of the candidate, internal equity, work location, and hiring department’s fiscal resources.
