Staff Attorney

This position offers an exciting opportunity for a legal professional to contribute significantly to the operations and expansion of a leading healthcare institution and its new medical school.  The Staff Attorney will handle contract review and negotiations, ensure compliance with healthcare laws, provide legal advice, and support acquisitions.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address legal issues and implement solutions.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on various issues affecting the hospital, including changes in healthcare laws, emerging legal trends, and best practices in healthcare law.
  • Handle legal matters related to Meritus real estate, including property acquisitions, leasing, and lease compliance.
  • Support the hospital's acquisition efforts, including due diligence, transaction structuring, and negotiation.  Additionally, prepare and submit regulatory filings and reports as required by law.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of vendor contracts for the hospital and the new medical school, ensuring compliance and alignment with hospital and medical school objectives.
  • Assist in the management and oversight of outside legal counsel, and stay updated on relevant legal developments affecting the healthcare industry.
  • Provide legal counsel on employment law matters, including but not limited to, employee relations, policies, and compliance with federal and state employment laws.

Education - Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school in the United States.

Experience - A minimum of 2-3 years of experience preferred in contract law, ideally in the healthcare sector. 

Licensure/Certification - Attorney license in a state in the United States.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Lexis/Nexis or Westlaw; contract management; excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment, great research, organizational and analysis ability; knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office Suite; demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
