School LPN Float
35 hour weeks with Full time benefits
M-F
The LPN Float will provide services in any WCPS school building based on program needs, including but not limited to, staff absences, long term leave, unfilled positions, hearing and vision screening, etc. Under the direction of the Director and the assigned Manager, provides preventive health services to facilitate the student’s optimal physical, mental, emotional and social growth and development. Provides care to medically involved students. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: following the individualized health care plans developed by the school RN, providing total physical care for the students, monitoring student health needs and maintaining a sanitary and safe environment, administration of physician ordered medication and treatments, ordering supplies for your assigned health office, completing daily and monthly records, attending student related meetings.
Education - Graduate from an approved nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse.
Experience - One year experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Pediatric experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification - Current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Maryland, or if resident of a state that participates in Nurse Multi-State Compact agreement, holds LPN license from that state that is designated as “Compact” or “Multi-State Privilege” using primary source verification and provides additional documentation as required by the Maryland Board of Nursing. LPN license from a compact state with a designation of “Single State” does not meet the requirement and nurse must obtain a Maryland license. Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. Valid driver's license and current automobile insurance required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Ability to exercise professional judgment in making decisions. Ability to appropriately and effectively communicate with students, parents, administrators and other school personnel.
