Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor and Delivery
72 hrs biweekly, 630p-7a
The Family Birthing Center is a 32-bed unit specializing in vaginal and caesarian deliveries. We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in providing effective and therapeutic treatment for deliveries, is passionate about patient education and family involvement, and an advocate in providing both psychological and emotional support.
Our RN's work 12-hour shifts and approximately 12-20 hours of call time in a 6-week period. If called in "on call" the RN will receive time and a half. We follow AWHONN guidelines for staffing. This is 1:1 labor support once the patient is in active labor. We assign 1:3-4 post-partum couplets. We assign a triage nurse, and we have a charge nurse every shift.
We have 2 medical practices who care for our patients here at Meritus. 90% of our vaginal deliveries are done by certified nurse midwives! Our babies room with their mother after delivery if stable. We have 24-hour neonatology coverage and anesthesia coverage. We have lactation consultants who work 7 days a week. We have a Level II Special Care Nursery that is staffed separately. An experienced RN will receive 12 weeks of orientation.

Requirements
- BSN or willing to obtain within 5 years of hire
- Minimum of one year experience as a Registered Nurse
- Current Maryland RN license, Compact or eligible for licensure in the state of MD
- Current BLS and NRP
