Description
Under the supervision of a pharmacist, supports in the operations of the pharmacy. This includes data entry, preparing and labelling medications for dispensation, interacting with patients dropping off or picking up prescriptions, data entry into the electronic medical record/systems, assisting with payment and point of sale transactions with customers, and assisting with ordering, receiving, stocking, and storage of medications. All technicians will be resposible to support other pharmacy operations such as the meds to beds program, curbside pickup, specialty pharmacy, and any other concierge programs. The technician will have to work collaboratively with pharmacists and other technicians on duty and adhere to all appliable regulations as well as organizational policy and procedure.
Education – High School Diploma/GED is required. Certified Pharmacy Technician Program/Certificate preferred.
Experience –Previous pharmacy technician experience is preferred. Newly licensed pharmacy technicians are eligible.
Licensure/Certification – Registered Maryland Board of Pharmacy Technician required. National Certification preferred. If applicant has a license in another state they must obtain a Maryland license within 30 days of hire.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities – Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and written. Must have the ability to work quickly and accurately under time and volume constraints. Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work in a team. Must have the ability to help resolve customer issues quickly and creatively to improve customer satisfaction. Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Basic computer/keyboard skills (including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and a good understanding of medical terminology are required. Must be able to participate in all aspects of drug distribution, communicate with other employees, and prioritize work based on acuity/need.
