HVACR Mechanic - Full-time, 80 hours bi-weekly

*Sunday through Wednesday, 10-hour shift per day, 4 days per week

The HVAC Central Plant Operator will perform duties in ensuring the proper operation of all functions of the Central Plant. Will execute preventive and corrective maintenance on all facility and building related systems in order to maintain a comfortable, safe and functional hospital environment for patients, visitors and staff. This position is responsible for monitoring, adjusting, maintaining, and repairing the boiler plant and central air conditioning plant. Will perform duties associated with the inspection, repair, maintenance and operation of refrigeration equipment, unit air conditioners, refrigerators, water coolers, and installation of new equipment. Works on complex problems which may involve the modification and redesign of an HVAC or refrigeration system. Oversees the Chilled Water, Boilers, Cooling Towers, Chillers and Building Management of the HVAC Computer Program to assure system integrity and performance. Must also gain familiarity with other utilities and services such as emergency generators and the fire protection system. Will act as the facilities point person when regular support staff and management are not on-site.

Education – High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience – Minimum of 3 years preferred.Experience with extensive exposure to installation, repair and maintenance of refrigeration, air conditioning, heating systems and boiler plant operations preferred.

Licensure/Certification –Journeyman license preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities -Knowledge of the theory, methods, practices, tools, and equipment of the refrigeration mechanic's trade. Knowledge of the qualities, properties, and uses of the various refrigerant fluids and associated chemicals. Knowledge of the operating principles and characteristics of the various types of refrigeration, pneumatic control, air conditioning systems and central plant operations and maintenance.
