Merchants Insurance Group is a leading Property and Casualty Insurer in the Northeast and is looking for an experienced Business Analyst for our Information Technology Business Services team to join our Corporate Headquarters located in Buffalo, New York.  

The Business Analyst will become part of a dedicated Information Technology team that will work closely with the business units to scope business project plans. The Business Analyst is accountable for learning product line specifics, evaluating business requirements for projects, defining functional specifications, test plans, and executing testing.

Merchants offers its colleagues a Hybrid work schedule. The Hybrid work schedule requires 8 days per month in the office, with the option to work the remaining days at home or in the office. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

• Responsible for gathering, analyzing and documenting business requirements using industry best practices and methods e.g. Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK) which can be used to develop functional specifications that accurately meet the business needs.
• Assists with the testing of business requirements during the User Acceptance phase of the project lifecycle or when required.
• Identifies and communicates risks, issues and potential solutions along with providing status updates to the stakeholders and/or technology leadership.
• Assist with small to medium scope projects as needed.
• Work to impart proper business requirements and documentation practices throughout organization.

 

Qualifications & Skills:

• Qualified candidates will have a 4 year degree or equivalent work related experience.
• 2+ years of insurance systems technology experience.
• Strong analytical organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present to the targeted audiences.
• Ability to understand business requirements and process optimization methodology.
• Solid PC skills with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with Commercial Auto policies, rating, rules, and forms preferred.

 

Merchants Insurance Group Pay information:

Merchants Insurance Group offers a competitive pay scale.  The actual compensation will be determined based upon experience and other factors permitted by law.  The pay range for this position is $50,580 - $ 67,423.
