Description
Supervises the effective and efficient operation of the Registration function; assigns and trains subordinate staff; plans, organizes and manages the registration related functions within the Registration department; directs, monitors and schedules staff; evaluates and monitors performance and ensures competencies are completed, reviews and makes decisions regarding leave requests; initiates and implements disciplinary action as needed; assists with and promotes the recruitment and retention of qualified staff; completes time sheets of registration staff as needed; completes probationary and annual merit evaluations of registration staff; Maintain and update Marketplace Healthcare Exchange Products and Insurance Companies Requiring Pre-Authorization for Outpatient Testing/Services lists. Proactively evaluates process failures and implements changes; promotes an environment conducive to productivity and employee retention; ensures staff training and education necessary for success; effectively coaches and counsels staff providing feedback on performance; solicits input from staff and addresses employee concerns; monitors resources (ie. equipment, manpower, supplies, etc.) and takes appropriate action; actively participates on the Revenue Cycle team and other teams deemed appropriate by the Director.
Provides ongoing training and education for all registration areas of the hospital; updates training materials as appropriate and disseminates information to all affected areas. Performs audits of all registration areas to ensure quality, accuracy and proper completion of registration paperwork; ensures compliance and registration continuity across the hospital; gathers and analyzes data (volumes, productivity, audits, etc.) to determine trends, process breakdowns, and staffing model changes; reviews and monitors current work practices to identify areas for process improvement; works with department director to address staff issues, interviewing and hiring of employees, and reports all recommendations. Supports the hospital’s policies and procedures and provides clear guidelines and accountabilities to subordinates; updates departmental policies and procedures as appropriate and communicates changes and timelines to all affected. Supports Director in developing processes to improve overall customer satisfaction. Creates an maintains a successful work environment as exhibited in employee opinion scoring. Performs all functions within the department and is able to step in when necessary to meet needs of the department.
Requirements
Associate degree preferred but not required, high school diploma and minimum of (2) years’ experience with healthcare patient access with a general understanding of the role that patient access has on the Hospital Revenue Cycle. Ability to comprehend and perform verbal and written instructions and procedures with the ability to respond effectively to time sensitive requests. Candidate must be proficient in Word and Excel.
