Description

Performs diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures (e.g., preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals, camera set-ups and acquisition parameters, computer analysis of scan information, generation of hard copies of patient data for interpretations, etc.). Maintains records of radiopharmaceutical receipt, distribution, and disposal according to State of Ohio   and accrediting body regulations; orders radiopharmaceuticals and associated materials from appropriate suppliers. Supervises the daily operations of the Nuclear Medicine and Ultrasound departments; assigns personnel work schedules; assists in staff evaluations; assists in policy and procedure development and implementation. Coordinates all radiation safety activities including but not limited to state licensing maintenance; risk management / quality assurance meetings, minutes, agendas; maintains personnel exposure records and As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) limits; Collects and evaluates data for maintenance of the Quality Assurance program; collects, tabulates, and reports, statistical information and Key Result Measures, as directed. Schedules patient procedures; provides pre-exam instructions; verifies patient/care-giver understanding of instructions. Maintains patient information and film/files utilizing Radiology Information System, following department policies and procedures. Responds to emergencies outside regularly scheduled work hours. Develops and demonstrates knowledge of current developments in field to maintain competency in nuclear medicine procedures and related areas. Attends all mandatory education and in-services (i.e., team training, safety, infection control, etc.); completes mandatory health requirements. Employee performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital’s and department’s Ethics and Compliance program and is responsible to detect, observe and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, or upward through the chain of command, the Compliance Officer, or the hospital hotline.

Requirements
State of Ohio license in Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMT); American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (N) registered and/or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) registered; graduate of an approved school of nuclear medicine technology (registry eligible). State of Ohio license in NMT; ARRT (N) or NMTCB.
