Description
Performs diagnostic ultrasound exams (e.g. evaluates the uterus, ovaries, kidneys, liver, pancreas, gall bladder, breast, vessels, fetus, etc.); provides the Radiologist or ordering physician with technical and diagnostic interpretation of exams. Communicates effectively with sick, injured or disabled patients to record patients’ medical histories; explains diagnostic procedures, provides pre-exam instructions, and verifies patient’s/caregiver’s understanding of instructions; schedules patient procedures; provides medical procedure and care consider age, growth and development, and specific needs of patient; transports patients from ED and other patient care areas. Responds to emergencies outside of normal work hours.
Requirements
Completion of post-secondary education in Radiology Technology and two (2) years clinical Ultrasound experience, or equivalent; certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. Certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers if no evidence of comparable qualification within one (1) year of registry eligibility.
