Description
Uses the nursing process of assessment, analyzing, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation to deliver patient care; assists physician in management of the cardiac patient, including but not limited to direct patient care within the cardiac cath/interventional lab and other cardiac and non-cardiac procedures; responsible for distribution of cardiac medications, maintains sterile field in all procedures requiring such; manages blood samples for Point of Care (POC) testing; responsible for monitoring patients that undergo procedural sedation; maintains knowledge of radiographic and angiographic imaging techniques and radiation safety; works in conjunction with interventional rad tech on medical documentation, departmental policy and procedure, ACC reporting requirements, inventory management, and quality control and assurance; collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Maintains accurate data collection for direct and indirect patient care; completes documentation that is reflective of care provided, on appropriate hospital forms and/or systems, and within the established timeframes; provides monitoring and recording of electrocardiographic and hemodynamic data. Teaches patient/significant other appropriate health information in a timely manner and provides written informational material as evidenced by documentation. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through identification and participation in performance improvement initiatives. Accepts accountability for professional practice and development; knowledgeable of current nursing practice standards and hospital policies/procedures; consistently projects positive professional image through appearance and behavior. Responds to emergencies outside normal working hours. Exhibits behaviors reflective of Memorial’s core values: Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence, and Service. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance. Takes required on call shifts per scheduled rotation for emergency cases in the Cath Lab. Reports to the hospital within 30 minutes of being notified. Attends all mandatory education and in-services (i.e., team training, safety, infection control, etc.); completes mandatory health requirements. Employee performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital’s and department’s Ethics and Compliance program and is responsible to detect, observe and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, or upward through the chain of command, the Compliance Officer, or the hospital hotline. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing with current registration in the State of Ohio. Minimum of 3 years of critical care experience, Cath Lab experience preferred. Licensed as an RN in the State of Ohio; completes twenty-four (24) contact hours of approved CE during each two (2) year licensure renewal period consistent with requirements of Ohio Board of Nursing; maintains continuous certification in American Heart Association’s (AHA) BLS; attains American Heart Association’s (AHA) ACLS certification within six (6) months of employment and maintains bi-annual certification.
