Description

Preforms scrub duties; preforms delegated nursing functions under the supervision of the Registered Nurse using established procedures, policies, guidelines, and standards; collaborates with other health care providers to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Assembles, cleans, and sterilizes patient care items and instruments for various departments. Documents and reports observations to the Registered Nurse; recognizes, interprets, documents, and communicates significant information necessary for quality patient care and regulations; accurately documents on appropriate hospital forms, and within the established timeframes. Participates in identification of clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and assists in performance improvement activities that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care. Provide patient/significant other health teaching as delegated by and observed by the Registered Nurse. Accepts accountability for professional practice and development; knowledgeable of current nursing practice standards and hospital policies/procedures; consistently projects positive professional image through appearance and behavior. Responds to emergencies outside normal working hours. Attends all mandatory education and in-services (i.e., team training, safety, infection control, etc.); completes mandatory health requirements. Employee performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital’s and department’s Ethics and Compliance program and is responsible to detect, observe and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, or upward through the chain of command, the Compliance Officer, or the hospital hotline.

Requirements
Graduate of an accredited school of licensed practical nursing program. Licensed as an LPN in the State of Ohio; completes twenty-four (24) contact hours of approved CE during each two (2) years licensure renewal period consistent with requirements of Ohio Boarding of Nursing; maintains continuous certification in American Heart Association BLS. Ophthalmology experience preferred.
