Description
The purpose of the Senior Systems Engineer position is resolving escalated service issues, coaching other engineers to resolutions, engineering and implementing complex projects, and for maintaining and overseeing the technical infrastructure for the Credit Union. The Senior System Engineer works with Systems Engineering Manager to meet department goals and provide business solutions. The role also establishes the scope of projects, allocates the proper resources, and monitors the progress. This role would generally have budgetary responsibility for a small size department and decisions would have a minor impact. In addition, the role will work under limited supervision and inspection of work.
With moderate discretion, the primary focus of a Senior Systems Engineer is overall application service availability, performance, monitoring, resiliency, emergency response, release management, and architectural scalability. The Senior Systems Engineer leverages technical expertise in the area of end user engineering to strengthen the reliability, efficiency, and performance of complex client systems. The problems encountered require proficiency in technique and will require analysis of a wide variety of data. Finally, the role will require normal courtesy, tact and diplomacy, which involves much personal contact with others.
EDUCATION:
• General and business knowledge equivalent to an Associate’s Degree
CERTIFICATION:
• Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License and maintain a “clean” driving record
EXPERIENCE:
• 10-14 years of experience in providing IT system engineering
SKILLS:
• Advanced knowledge of server and desktop operating systems
• Advanced knowledge of Server and Desktop Virtualization
• Experience with designing Azure infrastructure, SAAS, and PAAS services
• Advanced knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, SMTP
• Capacity Planning/Monitoring of cloud, compute, and SAN platforms
• Advanced knowledge of enterprise software management
• Security vulnerability remediation and server hardening
• Performing high-level Root cause/ Postmortem analysis for service interruptions and creating preventive measures
• Advanced automation and scripting skills (PowerShell, VBS, Perl)
• Designing site resilient hybrid and multi-cloud environments
• Advanced skills in administering and tuning IIS, SQL, Microsoft failover clustering
• Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes and service records
• Design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies
• Data Center Management
• Experience with overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software systems, applications, and related products
• Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, Exchange and the Microsoft Office 365 Suite
PREFERENCES:
• Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of System Engineering experience or an associate degree and 12-14 years related experience
