Description

The purpose of the Senior Network Engineer position is to provide end-to-end design support for network element deployment and responsible for the overall service design from installation through launch and after. This role leads all major hardware and software upgrades working with vendors as well as connecting peer nodes to ensure seamless operation as the network architecture evolves. This position provides support to engineers in the team on project design, testing and deployment activities. This role would generally have budgetary responsibility for a small size department and decisions would have a minor impact. In addition, the role will work under limited supervision and inspection of work.

With moderate discretion, the primary focus of a Senior Network Engineer is to participate in initiatives that support technology growth and innovation by capitalizing on their subject matter expertise. Senior Network Engineers also provide advanced technical support for all network infrastructure systems at all Credit Union locations, and facilitate troubleshooting with other cross-functional technology teams. The problems encountered require proficiency in technique and will require analysis of a wide variety of data.  Finally, the role will require normal courtesy, tact and diplomacy, which involves much personal contact with others.  

EDUCATION:

  • General and business knowledge equivalent to an Associate’s Degree

CERTIFICATION(S):

  • Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License and maintain a “clean” driving record

EXPERIENCE:

  • 10-14 years of experience in providing network technologies

SKILLS:

• Expert level experience with design and optimization of data and voice communication protocols and services to meet the goals for a secure, highly available, scalable, and stable environment.

• Advanced knowledge of WAN routing protocols and services, to include BGP, EIGRP and SD-WAN

• Solid hands on engineer level experience with Aruba and Cisco wired/wireless networking hardware architecture, and management

• Expert knowledge in WAN/LAN hardware and software technologies and methodologies.

• Experience with enterprise level network design, engineering, and administration

• Working knowledge of Cisco Call Manager and Genesys PureConnect a plus

• Experience in research of advancing technologies and solutions

• Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tool 

• Solid experience in a cloud/enterprise hybrid environment

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

• Experience in performing Root cause/ Postmortem analysis for service interruptions and creating preventive measures

• Experience in creating and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records

• Strong, well -developed, communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with peers and managers and personnel outside of the department.

PREFERENCES:

• The Senior Network Engineer will have a bachelor’s degree and 10 years of Network Engineering experience, associate degree and 12 years related experience, or 14 years related experience.
