Job Description
Basic Functions
The Psychiatrist or APRN provides direct medication management services for the Center’s clients, carrying assessment and prescribing authority. Independent judgment is used to make decisions in carrying out assignments. This is for a contract position to provide services part-time.
Duties & Responsibilities
· Complies with the medication program by following the Center’s Medication Policy and recommending changes based on best practices, Joint Commission accreditation standards, and District regulations.
· Prescribes medications (or not) as indicated by a thorough assessment. Follows best practices and avoids off-label prescribing.
· Provides input for enhanced client care via weekly clinical team meetings, supervision, and problem solving sessions.
· Ensures that all clinical documentation is timely, clinically appropriate, and adheres to all regulatory standards.
· Sees patients when needed as indicated by the prescriber’s ongoing assessment, other staff feedback, and the patient’s feedback (compliance, side effects, etc.).
· Works with the Medical Director, Director of Nursing and Health Services, Medical Assistant, and Receptionist in a cooperative manner. Serving the patient is primary.
· Seeks supervision as needed, especially from senior staff members.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
The Psychiatrist or APRN must be a licensed medical doctor in the District of Columbia. He/she must have demonstrated experience in being able to be clinically responsible. He/she must be free of any investigations or sanctions by local and/or federal regulatory agencies. He/she must be able to navigate an electronic health record.
Qualifications
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
The Psychiatrist must be a licensed physician in the District of Columbia, with a specialty in Psychiatry. The APRN must be licensed as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse in the District of Columbia, with experience working with individuals with behavioral health conditions. This position requires effective interpersonal, oral and written communication abilities. Must be experienced and proficient with computers, Web-based programs, and electronic medical records.
