About the Role
Under general supervision, the Teacher Assistant supports the Lead Teacher in providing high-quality developmental care and education for children enrolled in our childcare center. The position helps foster intellectual, emotional, social, and physical growth in a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote development in all learning domains.

Supervise and engage with children throughout the day to ensure safety and well-being.

Act as the classroom lead in the absence of the teacher, maintaining consistency and structure.

Support the creation of a clean, organized, and stimulating classroom and outdoor play area.

Model positive interactions and use appropriate, encouraging language and discipline strategies.

Observe, document, and communicate children’s developmental progress and behavioral patterns.

Maintain accurate daily attendance, reports, and other required records.

Communicate effectively with families about their child’s activities and any incidents that occur.

Participate in professional development opportunities (trainings, workshops, classes) to meet annual state requirements.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:

Prefer: Child Development Associate (CDA), Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, or at least 30 semester hours with six credits in Early Childhood Education.

Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent will be accepted.
Skills:

Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Ability to provide compassionate, patient, and engaging support to young children.

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 35–50 lbs as needed (with assistive devices for heavier loads).

Ability to stand, bend, and engage in active play for extended periods.

Must complete TB screening and required health clearances per childcare licensing standards.
