Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Plumbing Designer to support the design, coordination, and documentation of plumbing systems across a wide range of building projects. This role requires technical expertise, strong collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and the ability to oversee projects from early concept through construction administration.
Key Responsibilities
Translate architectural drawings into plumbing system design models.
Prepare and maintain accurate design documents using AutoCAD and Revit.
Perform plumbing system layouts, equipment sizing, load calculations, and coordination with other building systems.
Lead project setup and ensure integration with architectural and engineering models.
Review shop drawings, submittals, and collision conflicts in Navisworks, coordinating resolutions as needed.
Attend internal and client meetings to align design intent and project goals.
Provide on-site construction support and inspections during installation phases.
Address contractor and vendor inquiries throughout bidding and construction.
Conduct QA/QC reviews of plumbing design packages and construction documents.
Mentor, train, and develop junior plumbing designers and EITs.
May manage select projects, including scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, and client communication.
Qualifications
8+ years of plumbing design experience OR a two-year technical degree with 6+ years of relevant experience.
Minimum 3 years of experience on large-scale building projects.
Demonstrated ability to complete plumbing system design with minimal supervision.
Strong understanding of construction documents, discipline coordination, and code compliance.
Proficiency in:
AutoCAD
Revit
Navisworks
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Plumbing design software (HASS, TRACE, or equivalent)
Familiarity with local, state, and national codes/standards.
Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and civil plans.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented with excellent judgment and decision-making abilities.
Ability to mentor less experienced designers and engineers.
Project management experience a plus.
