Salary Range: $50,000-$62,000
Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Designer with strong experience in Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to support a variety of engineering and design projects. This position plays a critical role in translating engineering concepts into clear, accurate, and buildable design documentation, especially for process-driven systems.

This is a hands-on design role—no PE license required—ideal for a self-motivated professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and has a solid foundation in mechanical systems and CAD-based design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and revise P&IDs, piping layouts, and mechanical system drawings in accordance with project and industry standards.

  • Support engineers in the development of design packages, including general arrangement drawings, equipment layouts, and piping isometrics.

  • Prepare and maintain accurate Bill of Materials (BOMs), equipment tags, and drawing lists.

  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams including process, electrical, and civil designers.

  • Conduct field visits to gather as-built information or verify design compatibility.

  • Maintain drawing documentation and support version control throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Assist in QA/QC review of drawing packages prior to submittals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Drafting, Mechanical Design Technology, or equivalent experience.

  • One year of experience as a mechanical designer, including direct P&ID drafting and interpretation.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Plant 3D, or similar CAD platforms.

  • Familiarity with mechanical systems such as piping, HVAC, tanks, pumps, and valves.

  • Strong attention to detail and understanding of industry standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI).

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with industrial, power plant, or MEP projects.

  • Working knowledge of 3D modeling and coordination tools.

  • Experience with document control systems and project workflows.

  • Ability to take redlines and sketches and develop them into final design documents.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary based on experience

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance

  • 401(k) with employer match

  • Paid time off and holidays

  • Career development opportunities and training

If you’re a mechanical design professional with a strong grasp of P&IDs and looking to grow in a supportive and fast-paced environment, we’d love to hear from you.
