Position: Project Architect/Planner - Science and Technology (2844)

We have partnered with an award-winning architecture firm with offices in New York and Philadelphia, which has supported its clients for nearly 70 years with innovative architecture, planning, and interior design services. They seek a Project Architect / Planner focused on laboratory and related science facilities to join their growing Science and Technology Team.
The Project Architect will support the firmwide health science and science and technology effort with the development, execution, and completion of programmatically complex, technologically advanced, state-of-the-future science projects.
You Will:
- Expand personal and firm knowledge of science facility design topics with the intent of becoming a firm and industry leader in the specialized field.
- Work with the firm’s experts and technical teams by providing guidance to the team and eventually leading laboratory and related projects.
- Actively participate in educational, social, and professional events, including efforts for business development.
- Potential travel to project locations outside of the home region.
- Champion and integrate sustainable design solutions into projects.
- Prepare architectural documents and presentations required for the projects.
- Manage all phases of a project with demonstrated technical expertise on projects of various scales and complexities
- Supervise small to large teams, produce, delegate, and coordinates the work, and review and approve the work of all internal and external team members
- Provide final review and approvals of all code analysis, material selections, and specifications
- Oversee construction document production and management of BIM model
- Attend client meetings and regularly interfaces with clients and consultants
- Coordinate with Project Manager(s) and Principal(s) regularly to ensure project execution according to work plan; suggest modifications to the work plan and staffing when corrective action is necessary
- Understand the required scope of work and is accountable for the team’s execution of the work in the most efficient and technically feasible manner
- Advocate for design excellence and encourages team members and consultants to keep the design a priority
- Implements methods for improving the quality of documentation for the firm to mitigate risk; shares this knowledge with junior staff and sets expectations for their accountability
You Have:
- Bachelor or Masters in Architecture
- Registered or working toward registration required
- 7+ years experience in an architecture office with at least five years experience in laboratory design / Science and Technology design.
- Knowledge of laboratory planning and design principles, standards, guidelines, and codes
- Proven ability to lead the design, documentation, and construction administration process
- Advanced skills in Revit
- Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, Sketch-Up, Rhino, 3D Max, and Photoshop preferred
- Laboratory and Science Projects in Higher Education, Pharmaceutical, Health Science, and Corporate R&D preferred
