Position Summary

As a Project Architect / Project Manager at CSBD, you’ll not only lead design efforts but also shape the process, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, on budget, and with design integrity. You’ll collaborate across internal teams (architecture, engineering) and external stakeholders (clients, contractors, authorities) to bring projects to life.

You’ll be working within a firm that sees architecture as a lever for community resilience and quality of life, where your designs have the potential to touch public spaces, aviation hubs, healthcare facilities, recreation centers, and more.

Core Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership: Manage design projects from conceptual phase through construction close-out.

  • Budget & Cost Control: Develop realistic project budgets, track expenditures, and mitigate cost overruns.

  • Scheduling & Milestones: Craft detailed schedules, monitor progress, and proactively address delays.

  • Construction Drawings & Documentation: Produce, review, and coordinate architectural drawings and specifications with accuracy.

  • Construction Administration: Lead site visits, review submittals, respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), and oversee contractor compliance to design intent.

  • Client Engagement: Serve as the primary liaison for clients; present design proposals, manage expectations, and foster trust.

  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with engineers (structural, MEP), interior designers, and other consultants to align systems and aesthetics.

  • Quality Assurance & Risk Management: Enforce design standards and code compliance, identify risks early, and implement mitigation strategies.

  • Team Mentorship: Mentor junior staff, delegate tasks, and help nurture in-house talent.

  • Business Development Support (as needed): Participate in proposal development, client outreach, or design presentations.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience managing architectural/design projects.

  • Proficiency in interpreting, producing, and coordinating construction documents and drawings.

  • In-depth knowledge of building codes, project delivery methods, and construction practices.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, with excellent organization and time management.

  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera, Procore, etc.).

  • PMP or equivalent certification is a plus (but not required).

What You’ll Gain

  • A career path that allows you to shape design or management leadership tracks.

  • Exposure to a breadth of project types and scales, from aviation terminals to healthcare or recreation facilities.

  • A role in a firm where design thinking, sustainability, and community impact guide decision-making.

  • Close collaboration across architecture + engineering disciplines (i.e. you’ll have cross-functional exposure).

  • Working with a leadership that values agility, creativity, and collaboration in a mid-sized firm setting.
