Civil Designer

LAN Associates Engineering, Planning, Architecture, Surveying, Inc., (“LAN”) is a mid-sized, multi-disciplined architectural and engineering firm. We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative Civil Designer/Draftsperson to join our team. In this exciting role, you will be expected to give input and assistance in helping the Civil Engineering department meet the requirements of our projects and clients. The ideal candidate should be experienced in AutoCAD drafting and know how to successfully collaborate with other consultants and departments to meet project needs.
LAN Associates employs over 100 design professionals consisting of designers, architects, engineers, surveyors, project managers, environmental experts, construction administrators and supporting technical staff in five offices across three states. The firm has more than 57 years of experience in the planning, design, and construction of a wide range of projects. LAN offers a competitive salary and a premiere benefits package. Salary for this position will be commensurate with the applicant’s qualifications and is expected to start at $60,000/year.
Qualifications:
- Must have a College Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- A minimum two years of experience working for an engineering firm on the design of civil/site projects
- Engineer-In-Training certificate preferred with interest in pursuing Professional Engineering licensure
- Basic knowledge of Word, Excel, and other Microsoft-based programs
- Experienced in AutoCAD Civil 3D. Experience in Hydraflow and HEC-RAS or similar software a plus
- Attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgmental capabilities
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written correspondence
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience with public/private commercial and educational projects a plus
- Ability to effectively plan, organize, and prioritize workload
- Working knowledge of local, county and state land use processes and regulations.
- Possession of valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Responsibilities:
- Preparation of construction drawings, engineering reports and specifications. Work under the direction of a licensed civil engineer to complete tasks such as planning, zoning analysis & evaluations, hydraulic & hydrologic analyses, stormwater management design, utility design and coordination, prepare soil erosion and sediment control plans, grading design, construction documentation for all land/site development projects.
- Ability to advance the planning and design of site development projects through implementation/construction.
- Create site plan renderings for presentations
- Assist with permitting from regulatory agencies
- Perform field investigations and evaluations
- Attend meeting with prospective clients, clients, contractors, consultants, and coworkers
- Perform construction administration tasks including submittal review, respond to RFIs, and coordination with contractors
- Support a licensed civil engineer with administrative tasks
- Assist with interdepartmental coordination
- Assist with marketing and business development responsibilities of Civil Engineering department upon request
- Perform other related duties, as assigned
