Join Our Team as a Traffic Electrician!
We're seeking a skilled Traffic Electrician to join our team and keep the City of Oshkosh's traffic systems running smoothly and safely. If you have a knack for electrical systems and a passion for public infrastructure, this could be the perfect role for you!
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation and Maintenance
Perform construction, installation, and maintenance of traffic signals and all city-owned electrical equipment in city buildings, parks, docks, baseball diamonds, and playgrounds. Install and maintain ornamental lighting systems as well as city fiber optic and copper voice communication systems. Engage in manual labor and carpentry tasks required for various electrical projects.
- Site Preparation and System Location
Locate underground electrical and communication systems, including both hardware and fiber optics. Prepare worksites by setting up appropriate barricades, warning devices, and necessary equipment to ensure safety.
- Data Collection and Reporting
Collect traffic data and maintain accurate records of activities performed. Generate detailed reports to support infrastructure maintenance and improvement efforts.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience: At least 2 years of Journeyman level experience required; a technical degree or certificate in Electrical Engineering or a related field highly preferred.
- License: Journeyman or Master Electrician License
- Technical Skills: Proficient in diagnosing electrical issues and conducting repairs.
- Problem-solving Skills: Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical problems.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with team members and the public.
