VILLAGE OF NEW GLARUS

POSITION VACANCY

POSITION TITLE:    Utilities Supervisor (New Glarus Utilities)

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:  The Utilities Director oversees the construction and maintenance of the electric and water distribution system of New Glarus Utilities, the Village of New Glarus’ municipality electric and water utility. This is a working position and is responsible for daily operations, work scheduling and line and water crew leadership.  The position supervises three full-time staff members. The Utilities Director reports to the Village Administrator.

Applicant should have a strong understanding of safety procedures. Applicant should have ability to work in all types of weather conditions and perform strenuous physical labor including heavy lifting and climbing. This position will occasionally require working outside normal working hours for on-call and emergency situations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

• Preferred minimum of 5 years journey-level worker with supervisory experience.
• Required high school diploma or GED and completion of Lineworker apprenticeship.  
• Obtain State of Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Water Operators certification within three years of hire.
• Valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver’s License - class A.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Project management experience.
• First Aid and CPR certified or ability to obtain.

RESPONSE TIME REQUIREMENT:

Candidate should reside within 30 minutes of the Village of New Glarus limits.

COMPENSATION: Starting salary range will be $48.00 to $52.00 per hour, based on experience, plus excellent benefits, including participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System.
