The Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department offers two dynamic career tracks – one designed for the experienced professional ready to advance their expertise and another tailored for individuals launching their career as a Firefighter / Paramedic.
Career Track 1 – Qualified Firefighter / Paramedic
Requirements
- US Citizen, at least 18 years old
- High School Diploma, GED, or HSED
- Valid unrestricted driver’s license
- State of Wisconsin or National Registry Paramedic License
- Firefighter I Certification (WTCS Board or IFSAC)
- Valid CPAT (within 12 months of hire)
- Residency within 45 miles of Marshfield (establish within 60 days post probation)

Compensation
- Firefighter Recruit starting wage $64,438
Career Track 2 – Developmental Firefighter / Paramedic
Requirements:
- Same citizenship, age, diploma, and driver’s license as Career Track 1
- Enrolled in a certified Paramedic program prior to hire
- Must obtain:
- CPAT (within 90 days of hire)
- Firefighter (within 12 months of hire)
- Paramedic licensure (within 12 months of hire)
- Residency within 45 miles of Marshfield (within 60 days post-probation)

Compensation
- Paid at 80% recruit Firefighter starting wage until Track 1 is obtained
- 40-hour work week while in training (class time included)
- Retention incentive: $8,000 bonus after 3 years of successful employment with Marshfield Fire & Rescue
