I.                   BUSINESS COMMUNICATION

Must be able to communicate effectively with co-works and managers.

II.                SUPERVISION REQUIRED

Limited supervision.

 

  • EDUCATION REQUIRED

High school diploma and two years college or vocational education in maintenance.

 

  1. TRAINING AND SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

Must have previous training in preventative maintenance in a production environment.  Excellent mechanical aptitude.  Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment quickly keeping downtime to a minimum.

V.                EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Two years general and preventative maintenance or equivalent combination of experience and education.

  • SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Visually test and inspects machinery and equipment.
  • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem and repair machine.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Installs and repairs electrical apparatus such as transformers and wiring, electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
  • Lay out, assemble, install, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. Repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
  • Installs, program, and repairs automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.
  • Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to bust or join metal parts.
  • Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee is occasionally required to sit.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

  1. WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but hearing protection may be required depending on the department where the employee is assigned.
