JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The primary function of the Staff Accountant is to provide accounting support functions in the US and our foreign entities in Canada and Australia. This position is also responsible for preparing various accounting entries for payroll expenses. The staff accountant will serve as primary communication contact between multiple departments within Lakewood Church and the international offices.

This position reports to the Assistant Controller.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION

US

  • Review and record bi-weekly and off-cycle payroll entries into the Dynamics D365 F&O system
  • Assist in the preparation of the weekly and monthly cash flow report
  • Reconcile staff payroll and short-term disability bank accounts monthly
  • Prepare and post monthly payroll accruals
  • Prepare monthly payroll reports
  • Assist with annual payroll budgeting process
  • Monitor new Airtime contracts and amend budgets and reporting as needed
  • Download American Express account transactions for posting
  • Assist with month end Fixed Asset reporting including capitalizing assets, recording depreciation and preparing Fixed Asset reports
  • Prepare journal entries as needed
  • Assist with balance sheet reconciliations
  • Other related duties as assigned

Foreign

  • Serve as the primary communication liaison between Lakewood Church and its international offices
  • Ensure all foreign invoices are approved and processed on time
  • Prepare journal entries as needed monthly
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare foreign financial reports to be used for Lakewood’s monthly consolidations
  • Coordinate the annual financial statement audits with auditors for Australia and Canada
  • Ensure audited financial statements are approved and filed with regulatory authorities
  • Ensure all foreign Post Office and Mail Forwarding services are current
  • Primary contact between the international offices and Lakewood’s IT and CRM developers
  • Work with our international office contacts to address constituent issues
  • Handle sensitive, confidential information and assignments with tact, discretion, and diplomacy

  • Serving as a Prayer Partner or as a volunteer in any ministry of the Church, and
  • Serving our community through local outreaches from time to time when needed by the Church

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Uncompromised commitment to Lakewood Church’s vision, values, and core beliefs
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles, practices, and procedures
  • Proficient in Outlook, Word, and Excel (Pivot Tables & VLOOKUP required)
  • Strong attention to detail and thoroughness
  • Proactive self-starter
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and friendly disposition
  • Ability to work independently and with a team, in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Maintain confidentiality of all records
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Dynamics F&O preferred
  • Experience with account reconciliation as well as proven ability to create reports and analyze data

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience
