LabCorp is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor I-Manual ERT to join our Special Chemistry team in Burlington, NC. In this position, you will work in a fast paced, customer focused, and challenging environment, and will be a part of our overall mission at LabCorp: "Improving Health, Improving Lives".


The schedule for this position will be: 1st shift, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Overview/Oversight management of the team section and working with Team Leader
  • Maintain employee performance reviews, training and safety files, timecard tracking
  • Team Schedule preparation
  • Maintaining Operational metrics, TAT, staffing counts
  • Orient/Department Orientation of New Hires
  • Write and/or revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other lab documents (e.g., bench protocols, instrument and assay logs), SOP updates and changes
  • Assure that all test worksheets are reviewed by self or other qualified staff in a timely manner as specified by regulation

  • Troubleshoot problem assays and instruments as needed to assure quality results are reported in a timely manner
  • Work with R& D staff to develop both improved methods for existing assays, as well as bring new assays in-house
  • Review and sign all lab records and logs (calibration, reagent checks, assay linearity checks, instrument scheduled and non-scheduled checks, quality control action logs, reagents, instrument preventative maintenance) by the second week of the following month.
  • Review and sign QC action logs as QC violations occur
  • Review and investigate trends, bias, or other QC problems
  • Oversee all new reagent lot studies, assure they are completed before new reagent is put into use, prepare the analysis documents, and review/approve
  • Oversee all parallel QC new lot studies in the section, assure they are completed properly and in a timely manner
  • Fill-in with testing as needed during times of high volume or unusual staffing shortages
  • Investigate and respond to client questions regarding result accuracy and interpretation
  • Resolve all client concerns/inquiries

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology or a related life science
  • Minimum of 7 years’ clinical laboratory experience
  • ASCP and/or AMT Certifications are not required but a plus
  • Previous supervisor experience is preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations
  • Familiarity with Chemistry platforms and equipment
  • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
