KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools
KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools is part of the KIPP national network. In the 2023-24 school year, the KIPP Jacksonville region will be comprised of four schools educating almost 3,000 students, kindergarten through eleventh grade in the North and West sides of Jacksonville, Florida:
KIPP Impact Academy: Kindergarten - 3rd grade, 6th - 8th grade
KIPP VOICE Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade
KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade
KIPP Bold City High School: 9th - 11th grade
For the current school year, teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools work the following hours Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Hours for teachers and students may vary slightly by school.
K-8 Staff: 7:30am - 4:30pm K-8 Students: 8:00am - 3:30pm, Wednesday K-8 dismissal is at 1:30pm
High School Staff: 6:45am - 3:45pm, High School Students: 7:15am - 2:30pm, Wednesday High School dismissal is at 12:30pm.
Every Wednesday is a student early release day, which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development and content team meetings. *This doesn’t include Wellness Wednesdays when all staff leave at student dismissal.

Job Description
KIPP Jacksonville seeks custodians as we expand our team and family. We are seeking both full-time and part-time teammates. Custodians should expect to spend 90% of their time working in a team to perform routine cleaning, 5% of their time on emergency cleaning, and 5% on other duties as assigned. This position is likely 8 hour shifts, Monday through Friday and is full-time.
Specific duties, working in a team to perform routine clearning, include but are not limited to:
Classrooms
- Maintain clean floors: sweep/dry mop and wet mop daily
- Sanitize desks, countertops, and tables daily
- Remove trash and replace can liners daily
- Clean windows regularly (2x a week)
- Vacuum carpets daily
- Clean air vents regularly (2x a week)
- Clean sinks regularly (2x a week)
Restrooms
- Maintain clean floors: sweep and wet mop daily
- Clean toilets and urinals daily
- Sanitize all restroom sinks and countertops daily
- Clean mirrors daily
- Remove trash from feminine receptacles daily, and replace bags
- Check and restock toilet paper and soap daily (replace as needed)
- Clean air vents regularly (2x a week)
Exterior
- Keep dumpster area clean from debris and trash daily
- Pick up trash from parking lot, entrances, sidewalks, and field daily
Offices
- Remove trash and replace can liners daily
- Vacuum carpets daily
- Sanitize desks and tables daily
Hallways
- Maintain clean floors: sweep and wet mop daily
- Walls wiped down regularly (2x a week)
- Clean air vents regularly (2x a week)
Stairwells
- Maintain clean floors: sweep and wet mop daily
- Remove trash and replace can liners daily
Emergency Cleaning
- Safely clean and sanitize areas affected by students’ bodily fluids
- Safely clean and sanitize areas affected by facility emergencies (clogged toilets, leaking sinks, etc.)
Other Duties as assigned
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
- Reliability: On time to work every day. Absences are very rare, and communicated in advance to supervisors.
- Energy: Motivated to work hard during shift.
- Responsibility: Ability to work independently, but also demonstrate flexibility
- Team Player: Maintain a positive attitude and listen respectfully to others
- Must be able to pass a background check, as required by law.
HIGHLY PREFERRED
- Floor Tech experience
- Expereince: Previous success working as a custodian in school or public settings.
