KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools is part of the KIPP national network. In the 2024-25 school year, the KIPP Jacksonville region will be comprised of four schools educating more than 3,000 students, kindergarten through twelfth grade in the North and West sides of Jacksonville, Florida.

  • KIPP Impact Academy: Kindergarten - 4th grade, 6th - 8th grade 

  • KIPP VOICE Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade 

  • KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade 

  • KIPP Bold City High School: 9th - 12th grade

For the current school year, teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools work the following hours Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Hours for teachers and students may vary slightly by school.

  • K-8 Staff: 7:30am - 4:30pm K-8 Students: 8:00am - 3:30pm, Wednesday K-8 dismissal is at 1:30pm 

  • High School Staff: 6:45am - 3:45pm, High School Students: 7:15am - 2:30pm, Wednesday High School dismissal is at 12:30pm. 

Every Wednesday is a student early release day, which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development and content team meetings. *This doesn’t include Wellness Wednesdays when all staff leave at student dismissal.

Job Description

KIPP Jacksonville aims to have a strong teacher talent pipeline and will work with any paraprofessionals who are interested in pursuing teacher certification to transition to instructional roles the following school year. 

POSITION SUMMARY
KIPP Jacksonville seeks paraprofessionals to support our primary K-2 classrooms and our 3rd English/Reading classrooms. The paraprofessional will be assigned one classroom and will support students alongside a lead teacher, the grade level team, and the ELA department. Paraprofessionals support the teacher during the regular school day and are under the direct supervision of a classroom teacher.

Paraprofessionals will conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher to support students in small groups and assist with the preparation and/or implementation of differentiated instruction. Paraprofessionals will support the classroom by helping students with morning/arrival routines or dismissal routines, transitioning and supervising students at lunch or recess, and prepping materials used for instruction in the classroom. Paraprofessionals will receive feedback from both their classroom teacher and the school’s administration team. 

While KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools does employ some paraprofessionals in the standard model, we are aiming to expand the number of paraprofessionals in these classrooms with additional funding sources. While it is possible funding for this position may be allocated in future years, it is now only funded through the current source through June 2025.

*The salary offered in the DocuSign doesn’t include any stipends for which the candidate may be eligible. In our first year of paying out millage stipends, non-certified New-to-KIPP staff received an additional $3700. There are other opportunities to earn money at KIPP Jax in the form of additional stipends.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate’s Degree (Highly Qualified Status)
  • An uncompromising belief that all students can learn

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience working in an urban public school or charter school setting as a paraprofessional, a substitute, a tutor, or a similar role
  • Experience working with students at the elementary level
  • A long-term desire to be an educator
