JMT offers exposure to the latest technologies in water engineering, which serve both our nationwide major metropolitan and smaller local clients.  Hands on training for continued career development is provided through a team of professional engineers specializing in water and wastewater systems engineering and general civil engineering.

JMT is seeking candidates for water / wastewater engineer position to join our fast growing practice in Pittsburgh, PA.  The selected candidate will be embedded in a team of experienced project managers and professional engineers working on exciting water and wastewater infrastructure designs, including water distribution and transmission, pumping stations, sewer rehabilitation design, green infrastructure design, and wet weather solutions for large urban clients currently underway in the Mid-Atlantic and Mid-West regions.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Deliver all project objectives for assigned tasks including the preparation of construction contract documents (plans, specifications, cost estimates)
• Prepare written technical memoranda and reports
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, outside consultants, government agencies and internal staff

Required Skills

• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-production office environment, build successful team relationships and maintain positive coworker interactions

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Flexibility to support time-critical report development and production in order to meet demanding schedules
• Strong computer skills are required: MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project skills 
• Excellent AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS skills

Required Experience

• 10+ years of experience practicing water / wastewater engineering 
• Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited Civil Engineering program required
• Professional Engineer License (Pennsylvania or ability to obtain through reciprocity) 
• Experience working with Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania based clients at the city, county and state level preferred
• Experience in water system design and wastewater collection system design
• Experience with hydraulic modeling for water distribution and wastewater collection systems
• Experience with utility rehabilitation methods and practices
• General knowledge of environmental, public water supply, and water quality permitting regulations
• Familiarity with pumping station and force mains designs

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment 85% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

Limited travel may be required to support regional JMT projects.
