Description

General Summary

Position performs work in the maintenance and service of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems at the assigned facility. Installs, repairs, maintains, and services applicable systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs general maintenance and repairs of installed equipment and systems to ensure the successful operation of boilers, compressors, refrigeration equipment, generators, air-conditioning facilities and all appurtenant equipment that is driven by steam, electricity, gas, air, diesel, water or any other power developing energy.
  • Patrols, inspects, and maintains all mechanical, HVAC, electrical, piping and plumbing systems and equipment.
  • Performs preventative maintenance as appropriate.
  • May effect repairs on toilet facilities, registers, radiators, lights, fixtures, minor repairs on furniture and floors.
  • Maintains the general cleanliness and appearance of assigned spaces, assists others as part of the maintenance team as required.
  • May direct work of engineer apprentices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certificate in related field preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License
  • Experience with a Facility Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software highly desired.
  • General knowledge of hand and power tools
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to successfully pass a government background screen for admittance to jobsite

Physical, Environmental and Sensory Requirements

  • Regular exposure to extreme temperatures, wet and/or humid conditions, electric shock, moving mechanical parts, fumes and airborne particles, loud noises, chemicals, etc.
  • Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, reaching, and use of hands; regularly lifting and/or moving up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires use of hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  • Ability to maneuver a job site, including small spaces in around our equipment, stairwells, ladders, and rooftop.
  • Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. This job description is subject to change by the employer as the needs of the employer and requirements of the job change.
