POSITION SUMMARY:

The STEM Instructor leads engaging, hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math activities for children in our after school program. This role is responsible for sparking curiosity, encouraging problem-solving, and helping students build confidence through fun, age-appropriate STEM projects. Classes are designed to be interactive and exploratory, allowing children to experiment, create, and learn by doing.

The STEM Instructor will teach 2-4 classes per week. Pay rate is $50-$60/hour, depending on experience.

After School Program teaching hours are between Monday-Friday 3:00PM-6:00PM

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lead exciting STEM lessons that are accessible and enjoyable for elementary-age students
  • Provide step-by-step guidance while encouraging independent thinking and creativity
  • Prepare all materials and equipment in advance of each class
  • Ensure a safe and organized classroom environment
  • Adapt activities for various skill levels and learning styles
  • Encourage teamwork, collaboration, and respectful communication among students
  • Communicate effectively with after school staff and program administrators regarding class progress and needs

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; degree or coursework in STEM-related field preferred
  • Prior experience teaching STEM or leading STEM activities for children
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • Ability to inspire enthusiasm and curiosity in young learners
  • Organized, reliable, and creative in lesson planning
