POSITION SUMMARY:
The Baking Teacher leads hands-on baking classes for children in our after school program. This role is responsible for creating a fun, safe, and educational environment where participants can learn basic baking skills, explore creativity in the kitchen, and gain confidence through trying new recipes. All products must be kosher; familiarity with kosher kitchen practices is a plus, but not required. The Baking Teacher will ensure that baking activities run smoothly, ingredients are handled safely, and participants leave with a sense of accomplishment.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and teach engaging baking lessons appropriate for various age groups
- Ensure all baked goods meet kosher requirements
- Prepare ingredients, tools, and workspace prior to each class
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment
- Supervise and assist children with hands-on baking tasks
- Encourage children to try new techniques and challenge themselves
- Foster independence by allowing participants to take ownership of their creations
- Follow all safety and food handling guidelines
- Communicate effectively with after school staff and program administrators regarding class needs and participant progress
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent; culinary or baking training preferred
- Prior experience baking and working with children
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to create a supportive, positive, and engaging environment
- Familiarity with kosher kitchen practices a plus (training will be provided if needed)
This is a part-time position of 4-5 hours per week, with a pay rate of $30/hour.
After School Program teaching hours are between Monday-Friday 3:00PM-6:00PM
