The Department of Pathobiology at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine is inviting applications for a research position to study the host-pathogen interactions of the apicomplexan parasite Cryptosporidium. One area of experimental work will focus on molecular analyses using genetically engineered parasites. A second set of studies will use imaging-based approaches to observe how the intestinal tissue responds to infection. An in depth understanding of  molecular parasitology and immunology and the associated experimental techniques is essential.  The successful applicant for this position will be expected to be proficient in the genetic engineering of Cryptosporidium parasites and have extensive experience with rodent models of infection.
