Job Summary:


The Director of Facilities plans, coordinates and directs all functions and all activities related to plant operations/engineering and
environmental services. The Director is responsible for staff performance and the
accomplishment of departmental responsibilities in accordance with corporate, hospital, department and safety policies and
procedures to meet both company and regulatory requirements.

Education
⚬ Minimum:
Associates Degree or higher level of education
⚬ Preferred:
Associates Degree in Engineering or a related field


Registration/Certification/Licensure:
Preferred: Certified Healthcare Engineer (CHE) or Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager (CHFM)


Experience
Minimum:
Five years previous facility management experience. Working knowledge of applicable codes, state requirements and
regulations related to operations in a health care facility.

Preferred:
Ten years previous facility management experience.

Specific Job Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Accountable for and directs all aspects of facilities/engineering, environmental services, construction management, space planning,
grounds  for all Butler Health System properties. Analyzes and recommends the most quality and costeffective approach to support these operations.
1.
Leads, supports, and participates in regulatory code compliance and accountability preparation activities related to the
Environment of Care and Fire Life Safety chapters; represents BHS during inspections by regulatory agencies.
2.
For internal BHS teams and external vendors/contractors serves as the primary project manager to direct scope development,
budget, timeline, and ownership of all capital projects and facility maintenance construction work for new construction, repair
work, special projects, equipment, work orders, and daily maintenance and supplies for the purpose of ensuring jobs are completed
efficiently on time, at/under budget, and meets the needs of BHS staff, patients, and visitors.
3.
Directs all construction management and contract management preparation activities, and execution of contracts for the defined
BHS facilities. Defines and develops long and short range maintenance plans/programs (e.g. emergency response plans, energy
management plans, facility cleaning plan, annual budget, etc.).

Develops BHS strategy around Energy and Utility consumption, expenses, and sustainability to establish BHS as cost effective and
environmentally friendly. Develops and manages the budget for labor, maintenance, repair, and supplies of BHS Campuses;
analyzes and recommends the most cost-effective approach to maintenance, repair and renovation of facilities; provides
information and makes appropriate personnel recommendations. Performs other duties as required.
5.
