The Position
Project EngineerJob Summary
Based at our flagship manufacturing plant in Lompoc, CA, we are hiring a Project Engineer to work on engineering projects and support capital project work as described below:
Responsibilities include:
Identify engineering solution(s) for plants technical problems/opportunities
Describe scope of solution(s) through the development of PFDs, GAs, P&IDs, Electrical One-Lines, PLC controls philosophy, and other technical documents.
Collect technical requirements and develop equipment specifications ( for identified scope of work.
Identify applicable quality standards, technical standards, and best engineering practices.
Develop design, size/calculate required scope of work.
Develop technical documentation as required.
Develop and maintain project schedules or work with assigned Scheduler in the case of major projects through the entire project life cycle.
Develop cost estimates, or work with assigned Cost Estimator in the case of major projects through the entire project life cycle.
Develop procurement work packages and work with Purchasing to send RFQs..
Review bids, technical proposals, estimates, involve pertinent team members.
Review/approve or lead the review and approval of technical submittals, spec sheets, and scope by engineering consultants involving pertinent plant personnel when necessary.
Perform quality inspections and Factory Acceptance tests at manufacturing sites
Provide technical packages for risk assessments, readiness assessments, and Process Safety Management evaluations.
Provide engineering support during construction/installation: Answer RFIs, review change orders, review submittals.
Review RSPLs with plant personnel
Verify completeness of vendors documentation: O&M manuals, equipment information.
Collect training requirements for O&M.
Execute substantial completion walks at the end of installation/construction.
Collect vendors commissioning tasks and coordinate with plant O&M for start-up.
Collect red-lined and as-built drawings and update final project records.
Required Experience
- Minimum 3 years of proven working experience as a Project Engineer in a heavy industrial setting like mining or manufacturing.
Familiarity with material handling, dust collection, industrial plants, maintenance, electrical, pneumatic transport, utilities, etc
Knowledge of concepts dealing with EHS and industrial facilities, Construction safety.
Familiarity with EHS rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards
Required Skills:
BS degree in Engineering or relevant area
Familiar with AutoCad. Able to view, print, and mark up drawings..
Autocad drafting skills are a plus
Ability to work with multiple discipline projects
Project management and supervision skills
Decision making ability and leadership skills
Time management and organization skills
Excellent organizational, time management, leadership, and decision-making skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Travel up to 20%
Compensation Range: $90,000 - $150,000
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
