Heavy Industrial Maintenance EngineerJob Summary
The Heavy Industrial Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring optimal reliability of the site’s equipment and processes, as well as providing engineering support to determine and develop solutions for operational excellence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Incorporate and prioritize safety in all aspects of function and design.
Apply value analysis to make repair/replace, repair/re-design, and make/buy decisions.
Develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations using the following techniques: statistical process control, data analysis, engineering redesign, root cause analysis, Six Sigma Methodology, and/or failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action plans.
Provide expertise to prepare, implement, manage, and revise the preventative and predictive programs.
Develop short- and long-term plans for improvement activities, effective use of resources, training and critical spare parts.
Work with contractors on construction and installation of each process unit on a project basis.
Manage the planning, scheduling, staffing, and execution of daily equipment repairs and capital projects, and attend weekly planning meetings.
Champion proactive maintenance, encouraging all production and maintenance personnel to turn in work to be planned and scheduled.
Ensure that all data collected regarding the work process is accurate and complete.
Support the start-up and integration of new operations projects.
Provide engineering support to project and operations teams to achieve business goals.
Document operational processes, equipment, and procedures.

Ability to work safely and keep safety in the forefront for all aspects of the job.
Must be able to troubleshoot at an advanced level.
Must be able to work with people across the manufacturing process and various business functions.
Comfortable with integrating new technology into an existing business environment.
Able to solve problems in a new way, seeing past what is established and create a new way of doing things.
Up to 10% travel.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education required.
Related experience is a plus.
Good mechanical, analytical, and technical skills.
Preferred background would include a mineral process environment involving crushing, milling, thermal processing, and solids handling in a variety of operations.
