Job Description

Support the day to day operations of Human Resources Department with a focus on Performance Coaching and Learning & Development activities. This role takes the lead in identifying development needs from the organization, creating professional development programs, developing and/or sourcing employee and leadership development opportunities. This is a Generalist position and provides additional support to HR projects and priorities including recruitment and employee relations.


The HR Generalist / Learning & Development, either directly or indirectly, interacts with all employees of Hubbardton Forge. Policy and program delivery from the department should be designed to further the desired culture of Hubbardton Forge and strengthen the relationship between the employee and the company. On a daily basis, the HR Generalist / Learning & Development may interact with any and all levels of individuals within the company.

Essential Functions:
 Coach team members and peers through conflicts they may have with each other, management, and/or process uncertainties. Inspire and motivate individuals to work together during such times of conflict so that they can build teamwork while improving work performance and increasing individual contribution.
 Guide, coach & support Leadership as they implement the Performance Management Program (PMP). Monitor PMP to ensure all employees receive constructive performance feedback on a regular basis.
 Partners with the Director of HR on creating the employee development strategy and executing programs to support the growth and potential of Hubbardton Forge employees. Leading by example as well as through managerial coaching, the HR Generalist / Learning & Development is responsible for providing guidance on hiring, training, motivating, coaching, providing feedback, and setting the example of living the Hubbardton Forge values.
 Identify and recommend process improvement knowledge within the organization. Identify and recommend process improvements by applying continuous improvement principles. Train and mentor teams to drive improvement initiatives across the organization.
 As a member of the Human Resources team, the HR Generalist / Learning & Development is responsible for knowing and following the policies and procedures of the company; for sharing information that would benefit other members of the team; and for finding ways to improve the delivery of service to our customers.
 Stay current on legislative issues that could have an impact on the employment relationship or human resource practices of the company. The HR Generalist / Learning & Development maintains compliance with federal and state employment laws and regulations to ensure best practices.
 Create and maintain a viable candidate pool for Specialist open positions. This includes screening and assessing candidate abilities for best match with positions and the Hubbardton Forge culture as well as sourcing techniques.
 Develop and facilitate employee orientations, on-boarding programs, team building, employee program presentations and leadership development programs to meet the needs of Hubbardton Forge.
 Creating effective communication strategies and methods to inform leadership and employees of company programs and policies.
 Provide HRIS reporting requests, outside of typical bi-weekly HRIS reporting, to Human Resources Director, Senior Leadership, and Department Leaders as required.
 Support routine tasks of the HR department including bi-weekly payroll processing, compensation reviews, benefits administration, FMLA, as well as occupational health and safety.
 Be an advocate for the team by being receptive, actively listening, and communicating concerns and impressions and observations to Leadership.

Qualifications

    Education equivalent to a bachelor’s degree, preferably in human resources, organization development, organizational behavior or related field.
    A minimum of 5-7 years within Human Resources, Organizational Development or Training & Development are required.
    Strong working knowledge of all current federal labor laws and regulations.
    Previous experience with employee / HR program implementations.
    Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) with the ability to advise managers and supervisors on employee relations’ issues. Strong listening and evaluating skills.
    Previous work experience handling sensitive employee issues including harassment, discrimination, etc preferred.
    Strong leadership skills with ability to instill direction and drive to managers and employees.
    Strong analysis skills with ability to recommend and implement solutions.
    Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop solid working relationships with many individuals.
    Strong project management skills with proven follow-up and completion performance.
    Proficiency with Microsoft applications
    Ability to work in a fast paced environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously.
    Previous experience working in a team environment preferred, or a strong understanding of the importance of open communication and information sharing among co-workers.
