Summary

The Director of Brand and Communications is responsible for strengthening HMC’s brand and advancing its mission through strategic marketing and public relations initiatives. This individual will develop external marketing and communication materials with a goal of maximizing national awareness for HMC Architects. This role will be responsible for preparing the annual marketing and communications plan which will be central to the firm’s annual business plan. The ideal candidate will be an expert writer and innovative marketing professional who has successfully contributed to a wide range of deliverables including digital asset creation, printed collateral, video projects, newsletters, creative campaign ideation, website strategy and design, internal intranet development, and publicity campaigns.

This position is located in HMC corporate office in Ontario, California. The position requires 3 days in the office and the ability to work from home Mondays and Fridays. Writing samples and portfolio will be required when applying for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Create a comprehensive strategic marketing & communications plan to strengthen and advance HMC’s external brand and market share
  • Create innovative messaging and collateral to describe HMC’s unique selling proposition
  • Develop and maintain marketing and communication materials including website, newsletter, social media, decks, one sheets and other HMC collateral
  • Manage internal PR group to liaise with external PR agencies to achieve prominent placement of HMC in media outlets
  • Drives the execution of the marketing plan such as direct mail campaigns, trade shows, etc. and takes part in on-going analysis to ensure its effectiveness
  • Supports the creation of presentations, talking points and messages for internal and external communication
  • Create and manage a editorial calendar for key marketing messages that spans across internal and external priorities
  • Develop and execute social media campaigns and drive media impressions and other marketing KPIs
  • Liaises with third party agencies and vendors including graphic design, web development, digital ad agency etc
  • Ensures the firm’s visual and written communications are on brand
  • Develops and fosters strong working relationships across the organization to achieve organization goals and priorities
  • Monitor analytics across all digital and traditional marketing efforts to optimize performance using Deltek Vantage Point
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Marketing, business, communications, PR, journalism, or architectural degree from an accredited university; MBA preferred, equivalent work experience will also be acceptable
  • Minimum 10 years of marketing experience in a professional services organization with specific communications and/or public relations experience
  • Experience in or knowledge of architecture or engineering with a understanding of the A/E/C industry is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of current marketing and communication principles and strategies, with a proven track record of successful campaigns and marketing outreach
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment that requires strong multitasking, organization and time management skills
  • Must be a self-starter and resilient, with a high self-accountability for achieving results and deadlines
  • Proven experience managing teams and driving results through others
  • Experience working with senior leadership and executive teams
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Effective project management skills
  • Experience working with ad agencies and external vendors
  • A creative, out-of-the-box thinker
  • Technical proficiency and ability to use office productivity software in a professional business setting
  • Strong understanding of Adobe creative platforms including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator is not required but is a major plus
  • AIA and/or DBIA membership, accreditation, and affiliation preferred

The salary range for this position is $105,682 to $158,086

The actual offered salary for this position will vary depending on multiple factors including the candidate’s qualification, education, position knowledge, work experience, skills, ability, work location, and internal incumbent compensation for similar roles. We do not anticipate individuals hired into this position will start at or near the top half of the range listed; the decision will be based on each individual case. The salary range listed above does not include other compensation elements such as discretionary bonus opportunities, employee stock ownership grants, paid time off, medical insurance, and other wage and benefit opportunities.
