Forklift Operator Warehouse Receiver
Reports to: Warehouse Manager
Shift: Day 7:00am-3:30pm
Position Objective:
Warehouse staff members are responsible for efficient, safe and accurate loading of the delivery trucks and performing the assigned warehouse maintenance tasks.
Description of Physical Tasks:
Keep all warehouse load areas and grounds clean. Place product on hand truck or dolly (approximately 20 to 50 lbs per case). Fills racks, pushes/pulls pallets and loads appropriate GDC Birmingham products. Climbing on and off forklifts numerous times a day in a safe manner.
Responsibilities Include
- Must report to work on time and clock in and out daily.
- Start pulling product and building the transfer loads as soon as the load sheets are available.
- Pull product and build each load directly from the transfer sheet.
- Prior to starting the loading process, review the total quantity to be pulled and the truck it is to go on. Discuss any space concerns with the Warehouse Manager.
- Pull and load the exact amount listed on the transfer sheets.
- Pay close attention to rotation. First product received in should be first out. Down stack all partial pallets.
- Load the product on each truck properly to prevent damage.
- Visually inspect all cases loaded to ensure they are in saleable condition.
- Be aware of code dates to ensure beer has been properly rotated in warehouse.
- Require a count of the actual quantity of product received to agree with quantity shown on the bill of lading.
- Restock pick up area and flow racks when needed.
- Upon completion of the loading or unloading of each truck give the load sheet to the Warehouse Manager for verification.
- Prior to the end of your shift each day ensure all empty pallets are removed from the pick area and properly stored.
- Clear the pick area of debris and stretch wrap at the end of the truck unloading process each day.
- Maintain open and clear communications with the owners, managers and other employees.
- Maintain open and clear communications with the vendors and retailers that do business with the company.
- Obtain from the Warehouse Manager approval prior to working in excess of your regular schedule.
- Dress in uniform and maintain your personal appearance in a professional manner and according to company policy.
- Conduct all your activities within the guidelines of all company policies and procedures.
- Conduct all of your activities in accordance to the local, state and federal liquor control regulations.
- Perform all work activities in accordance to the safe work practices, policies and procedures.
- Adhere to all established inventory control procedures and practices.
- Stack all empty kegs and separate by brands and size. Load and unload trucks each morning.
- Clean warehouse, warehouse grounds and keg yard on a daily basis.
- All warehouse employees are required to use forklift and pallet jacks. All employees will be certified before operating lifts or pallet jacks.
- All other duties as assigned.
