We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Project Manager to join our project management team. This position will perform portfolio management functions in collaboration with the Program and Project Managers for a collection of projects for multi-party customer collaboration.

Work Location

The position will be based in the Chicagoland area at the GTI Energy Headquarters. We offer a hybrid/core work week, where employees are remote Mondays and Fridays, and required to be on-site Tuesday through Thursday. Frequent domestic travel may be required (<25%) during the standard work week.  

Primary Responsibilities
  • Monitor the execution of multiple projects to ensure projects are properly resourced, managed, and are meeting customer objectives.
  • Works with Customer Representative, Business Area Leaders, Program Managers and Project Managers to establish priorities and resolve requests for resources.
  • Ensures projects are following agreed upon best practices and works with project teams to implement continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all reporting requirements are met on a timely basis.
  • Acts as the first point of escalation for project teams and facilitates when assistance is needed from outside the project team.
  • Monitor risks and mitigation plans for individual projects and the portfolio.
  • Leads the Change Management committee to review and approve all changes to scope/requirements, schedule or budget for projects within the portfolio.
  • Manages portfolio status data to keep team members and stakeholders informed of progress, challenges, achievements and benefits realization of the portfolio.
  • Utilize appropriate project management tools, such as MS Project or others to monitor progress.
  • Participate in project planning discussions, offering input and insights based on current project factors and requirements.
  • Monitor current project load and backlog and work with Project Managers and Resource Leaders to sequence activities to optimize available resources and forecast needed resources.
  • Assist with generation of proposals for and sequencing of future projects within Portfolio.
  • Mentor and train project management staff.
  • Adhere to all health and safety policies and practices, contributing to a secure and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
  • Proven success leading multiple technical projects and multi-sponsor projects effectively and efficiently with ability to meet project milestones and keep internal/external project teams on track.
  • Experience with regulated utilities a plus.
  • Ability to negotiate solutions that meet multiple conflicting interests.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with an aptitude for learning and understanding technical concepts.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with cross-functional teams and stakeholders effectively.
  • Proficiency in using project management tools and software, such as MS Project, Excel, or other relevant applications.
  • Organizational skills with an attention to detail to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented mindset, with the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Eagerness to learn, adapt, and grow within a dynamic project management team.
  • Passion for contributing to the successful execution of projects and driving project management excellence.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science-related field, preferably from an ABET/EAC-accredited program institution or university
  • 15+ years of relevant, professional-level work experience after a B.S.
  • 13+ years of relevant experience after an M.S.
  • PMP Certification required or plan to complete within 1 year of hiring.
